What is a wife?

today i listened to BBC news on the radio.

the topic i chose for today is "what is a wife?"

have you ever imagined you being a wife?

if yes, what it is like to be a wife?

the BBC news reported that in Britain the concept of marriage is changing resently.

the traditional idea of marriage is a wife staying at home and husband going out to work.

a wife has to be a good cook and also has to be specialized in taking care of children.

the number of poeple who feel unconfortable with this idea is increasing.

young people tend to call his/her wife/ husband as his/her partner. and they do house work together and try not to interfere each other's identity.


for me,to tell the truth, i still have the image of a wife doing most of the domestic chores.
it is not so easy to imagine a husband preparing for a dinner and a wife reading a newspaper.

there is a argument about the use of separate surnames by a married couple. i think it is happening because of the change of concept about marriage.
people used to attach great importance to a family tree. and family was very important.
today, people pay more attention to individual than family.

i think we should define the concept of marriage and seperate from living together.
if one want to set great value on family, you should get married. if one want to set great value on individual, you shou just live together.
